About The Greenfield Foundation
Meet Our Founders
In 1990 Bob and Louise Greenfield founded the Goldsmith-Greenfield Foundation with funds donated by Berda Goldsmith, a client of Bob's in his law practice. Berda had no heirs and wanted to leave her estate to Bob, which he refused. He honored her memory by starting the foundation and the Goldsmith Prize at Harvard in her name. In 2005 the foundation merged with The Alexis Rosenberg Foundation (established in 1982 to benefit the youth of the United States) to become the Greenfield Foundation. The majority of the trustees are descendants of Bob and Louise.
Our Grantmaking
Greenfield Foundation is devoted to making the world a better place by originating and funding innovative programs that further the following three goals:

Creating opportunities for the success of young people by supporting their health and well-being, and giving them access to education and experiences.
2
Encouraging artwork, especially that which can improve our collective understanding of social issues
3
Making our governing institutions more ethical and effective.
Our Model
Greenfield Foundation operates via a unique model pioneered by its founder Bob Greenfield, originating and funding innovative programs that further those three goals.

The Foundation funds both projects that award exceptional efforts on an annual basis (Opportunity Grants) and ongoing projects (Initiative Grants) that highlight and recognize significant work on an annual basis.
